Susan Scanland
Susan Scanland has practiced as a board-certified gerontological nurse practitioner for nearly 25 years
in long-term care, home care and outpatient clinics. She currently maintains a geropsychiatric consulting
practice at a Scranton, PA long-term care facility.
Susan earned a master of science in nursing degree through the University of Pittsburgh's nurse practitioner program. Since then, she taught nurse practitioner students in the Decker School of Nursing at Binghamton University (SUNY) from 2000-2003 and residents at the Wyoming Valley Family Practice Residency in Kingston, PA from 1987-1999, where she served as director of geriatrics for three years. Over the years, Susan has provided more than 500 geriatric presentations in 38 states and Canadian provinces. She has published in geriatric, primary care and nursing journals and recently co-authored a chapter on "Care of the Post-Menopausal Female." She published an article in January 2005 in Advance for Nurse Practitioners on "Geriatric Syndromes." Susan has presented nationally at the National Conference for Gerontological Nurse Practitioners, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, American College of Nurse Practitioners, Nurse Practitioner Associates for Continuing Education, American Society on Aging, American Council on Aging, American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators and the Assisted Living Federation of America. A member of the National Speakers Association, she frequently presents at nurse practitioner and long-term care nursing/multidisciplinary group dinner meetings and state/regional nurse practitioner annual continuing education events. In 1999, Susan founded GeriScan Geriatric Consulting, a national geriatric consulting firm which focuses on geriatric education and advising. She has served as a consultant for numerous pharmaceutical corporations on long-term care projects, geriatric advisory boards, monographs, videos, lectures, and speakers' bureaus. Hart Davidow
Hart has served as business advisor to GeriScan for the past four years. His business coaching consultative service,
New Dynamics (www.NewDynamics.biz ), is based in Minetto, NY. Hart earned a master's degree in business administration
from UCLA and a bachelor's degree from USC. He works with GeriScan on short- and long-term business and financial goal
planning. With more than 30 years of business experience, Hart is a valuable source for client networking/negotiating,
product development, motivation, and business information. GeriScan's positive annual growth has been significantly
impacted by New Dynamics.

Kathy Dempsey
Kathy earned a bachelor of science degree in business management from Marywood University (PA).
As financial consultant for GeriScan, Kathy is responsible for the fiscal management of the company
to ensure complete accuracy within its corporate financial books and records. This includes day-to-day
management of accounts receivable, accounts payable, profit and loss, cash forecasting, and budgeting,
as well as short- and long-term financial planning.

Laura Povanda
Laura Povanda brings 25 years of medical office experience to GeriScan. Laura is responsible for office
and GeriScan team coordination, external communication, conference scheduling and travel planning. She
has worked extensively with elderly clients using multidisciplinary management.

Marisa Scalese
Marisa Scalese coordinates GeriScan’s marketing efforts for seminars and affiliate programs. Marisa obtained a
bachelor’s degree in marketing from Penn State University (PA) and an MBA in marketing from Wilkes University
(PA). Her previous positions include marketing director for RE/MAX Results Realty in Clarks Summit, PA;
national customer service representative for Nabisco Brands in Nanticoke, PA; and advertising representative
for “Today’s Child” regional magazine in Northeastern PA.

Tricia Richards
A graduate of Shippensburg University (PA) with a bachelor of science degree in communications/journalism,
Tricia earned a master's degree in healthcare administration from the University of Scranton (PA) and
completed master's-level work in communications at Marywood University (PA). Tricia has been an adjunct
faculty member in the communications department of the University of Scranton for more than 10 years and
has earned national and state-wide recognition for her work. Tricia writes the e-newsletter for GeriScan's
clients and healthcare professionals.
